Ek wil jou so grag gelukkig maak
    ek wil vir jou verse skryf
    sober en soepel soos jyself
Ek wil vir jou sing
    snags terwyl jy slaap
Ek wil myself vir jou gee
    stil soos 'n koorsboom
    soet en oop soos mispels
       soos mopanies in die herfs
       soos maroelas in die herfs
    bruin en heel soos kremetart
    vurig soos die bloeiende handjies van die
      koraalboom
ek wil so graag iets gee wat jy kan saamdra
wat by jou sal bly soos 'n klein warm akkedissie
eendag as jy oud en allenig in die son sit.
